The fair question
Why not just build a spreadsheet?
You can. Plenty of people have, and you already know what happens to it. It works beautifully for a month. Then a formula gets dragged one row too far, the mortgage tab never gets updated, and by March nobody in the house trusts the total any more.
- One number, everywhere at once. Change a salary and cash flow, budgets, net worth, projections and goals all move with it. In a spreadsheet you change it in six places and miss one.
- The arithmetic is not yours to get wrong. Every figure is computed by the app and checked before a release goes out. No silent cell pointing at the wrong row.
- It asks the awkward questions for you. A contingency buffer, what is genuinely spare after it, a cautious-to-optimistic range instead of one confident line. Those are the parts people leave out of a spreadsheet, and they are the parts that decide whether the plan survives a bad month.

Honest note on installing: the builds are not code-signed yet, so your system will show an "unknown publisher" warning on first run. On Windows choose More info → Run anyway; on a Mac, open the app once, then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. Code signing is a paid certificate step on our roadmap, not something we are hiding.

Where is my data stored?
In a local database on your own computer, and nowhere else. There is no account, no server and no telemetry. The app makes no network requests at all, with one opt-in exception: an "Update rates" button that fetches the day's ECB exchange rates only when you press it.
Which computers does it run on?
Windows 10/11, and macOS on both Apple Silicon and Intel. The installers are small (about 3 to 4 MB) because the app uses your operating system's own web engine rather than bundling a browser.
Why does my computer warn about an unknown publisher?
Because the builds are not code-signed yet. Certificates are a paid step we have planned, not a shortcut we are hiding. The download you receive comes only from your personal purchase link. On Windows choose More info → Run anyway. On a Mac, open the app once; when macOS says it cannot be opened, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, click Open Anyway, and confirm.
Do I get updates?
Yes, free for two years from the day you buy. Your download link is personal to your purchase and serves the current version, so when we ship an improvement the same link gives it to you. After two years the app is still yours and carries on working exactly as it is; you simply stop receiving new versions. The two years are about new versions. They do not limit your rights if the app is faulty or is not what we described: those are set out in our Returns & Refunds policy.
Is this financial advice?
No. Axion Clarity is a planning and education tool. Projections are estimates with a deliberately honest cautious-to-optimistic range, not guarantees, and nothing in the app recommends specific products or providers.
Can I try it before buying?
You can see exactly what you are getting before you buy: the screenshots on this page are the real app, running the fictional demo household that comes with it. There is no separate trial version. Once you have it, every copy opens with a choice: start fresh, or explore that demo household first, and you can wipe it and start fresh whenever you like.

Updates
Getting the newest version
The current release is v0.2.17. Updates are free for two years from the day you buy, and there is nothing to install from anywhere else: the download link in your purchase email always gives you the current version. Open it again whenever you like and you will get Axion Clarity as it stands today, on the same computer or a new one.
